Welcome to our PE and sports page! This page will keep you informed about fun sporting things we are doing in school, what we're doing in PE or sporting matches and tournaments that we participate in.

Reception tennis :  file (1607.8k)

The reception children have been enjoying  a professional tennis coach coming in to teach the children tennis through a variety of fun games and skills.

Sports festival :  file (2712.4k)

Children from years 5 and 6 competed in the annual sports festival at UCLAN. They represented the school superbly and competed in events such as: frisbee, tennis and cricket. The children really enjoyed the opportunity to compete in different sports and we won the tennis tournament! Well done!

Sports Day :  file (4034.7k)

Our annual sports day was another success. The children enjoyed competing in a variety of multi sports followed by races! There were some very good skills on show!

Girls' cricket :  file (1722.3k)

A team of key stage 2 girls competed at the Kwik Cricket tournament at UCLAN. They represented the school really well and produced some fantastic batting, bowling and fielding!

Move and groove :  file (1558.8k)

Each class has enjoyed move and groove sessions provided by ABL healthcare. They were fun and energetic and got all classes moving!

YEAR 1/2 FOOTBALL :  file (449.9k)

A mixed team of year 1 and 2 football team represented the school very well at the football tournament. They played superbly and reached the quarter finals. 

CHESS CLUB :  file (1992.6k)

The chess club at lunchtime has provd to be a huge success. The children are enjoying learning, and playing, the game. They are even trying to teach Mr Woodruff how to play!

CROSS COUNTRY :  file (919.4k)

The cross country team represented the school superbly during the event at Archbishop Temple High School. We finshed a combined 7th out of 33 schools. Well done team!

BOYS' FOOTBALL :  file (4735.1k)

The boys finished the season on a high - they won their last 4 games to ensure a respectable 4th placed finish. Well done boys!

Over this academic year we have had a professional dance tutor come into our school to delover dance calsses to the children before school. All the classes are free as they are paid for using the sports premium money. The children have really enjoyed them - as have the parents!

Year 3/4 football

On Thursday 24th January Mr Woodruff took a team of 6 year 3/4 boys to the Sir Tom Finney Cup at Play Football. The yeam performed really well, making it out of the first group stage. Unfortunately, they finished 3rd in the next group stage and didn't quite make the next round. The boys represented school really well and had an excellent time!

We enjoyed observing and participating in an assembly held by Sensei Silvio and Sensei Katie from the ju-jitsu club. The children demonstrated some very good moves!

The boys began their football season with a double header on Friday night. They drew 0-0 with St Clare’s and lost 1-0 to St.Anthony’s. They played really well in both games and battled superbly. They all gave it everything and were very unlucky not to win both games! They were playing the second half of the second half of the second game in near darkness too!

A mixed team of year 6 boys and girls entered the annual triathlon at West View Leisure Centre. They performed extremely well, showed excellent team spirit and were very well behaved. They finished a very respectable 5th out of 23 schools. Jessica Wafer recorded the fastest swimming time on the day, beating the times of over 130 other children! Well done to each child for representing the school so well.

It has been another busy start to the sporting year with a mixed year 5 and 6 team finishing 3rd in the Preston Hockey Premier Division. All of the children performed superbly and represented the school very well throughout. A mixed year 5 and 6 team also played very well in the tournament at Broughton High School.

 

A mixed year 3 and 4 team participated in the multi skills competition at Vida and finished a very respectable 12th. They were also the overall winners of one event.

 

The boys football team are through to the next round of the Harold Slater Shield with a hard fought 2-1 win away to Alston Lane. Great goals from Ryan Tierney and Bailey Malliband ensured our safe passage to the next round.
