26th September 2025 European Languages Day
Year 3 had a great day celebrating European Languages Day. We all came to school wearing colours to represent the French flag or the flag of our own country. There was a special assembly in which we talked about why we celebrate European Languages Day and we found out that there are over 200 languages spoken in Europe! Everyone in the assembly joined in together to sing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes all in French. Well done everyone. We are so proud that you can sing in French! Back in class, we learned about Georges Seurat, a French artist, who developed a wonderful technique called Pointillism. We were all excited to create our own paintings using Pointillism and the resulting pictures were brilliant. After lunch, we studied a map of Europe and identified the location of England and France. We also pointed out the countries which border France. In addition, we learned some French greetings and practised saying how we are. As the day was nearly over, we celebrated further by eating pain au chocolat and were fortunate to have the chance to learn some Bulgarian words from our special visitor. Well done Year 3!
