Book Week
On Tuesday we were treated to a visit from Damian Harvey, an author who has written over 180 books!
Damian chatted to us about his work and read several of his stories. We had lots of questions to ask him about what he does!
On Thursday we were all invited to dress up. We had the theme of 'read your way' and came to school dressed as how we enjoy reading.
Kapla Workshop
This week the whole school took part in a Kapla workshop. Each class had a turn to develop the build and add more structures.
Reception started the build off and built two little villages.
Year 1 were asked to build small cubes which were then combined to create one large caterpillar. We had time to explore using the Kapla blocks and create our own structures too.
Once the full build was complete we entered the hall to see the complete build. It was lovely to see the children's reactions. There were lots of 'wow's' and excited giggles as they began to see the final project.
The finished project
Art - Collage
As part of our Art unit of work we examined, sketched and painted dragon's eyes. We then used clay to sculpt our designs.
Blackpool Zoo
On Monday 16th October we visited Blackpool Zoo. We were very lucky with the weather and had a cold by sunny day.
We all loved the classification workshop and exploring the various enclosures at the zoo.
Dale the Tortoise
This half term Dale the tortoise visited us. We loved getting to meet Dale and learn lots of different facts about him and other tortoises.
European Day of Languages
We had a very busy day celebrating many European countries. We learnt how to say hello in French and explored the work of the famous French artists Claude Monet.
Marco taught us several words in Russian and Bulgarian and Mariana's Mum visited the classroom to teach us a little more about Bulgaria.
