As part of homework Year 1 children are expected to learn a small number of spellings each week. The spelling list will be uploaded to SeeSaw each Friday with children being tested the following week. 

The spellings set will be a mixture of common words taken from the Year 1 list and words containing sounds children have learnt during the week's phonics sessions. 

There will be two different spelling lists, one for each phonic group. Your child should know which phonic group they're in but if they are unsure then please send a message via Seesaw or speak to a member of the Year 1 team. 

It is important to practise spelling the words at home ready for the test that week.
